So the main reason my wife and I stay together is for our kids, especially our middle child on the spectrum. Both my younger boys (3 and5) take 2 parents but my 5 yo on the spectrum wouldn't be able to get to his therapy if we lived apart because of work, insurance and scheduling. But I am very unhappy and am thinking about options. Does anyone have any experience with being divorced or separated and still living together? I understand it wouldn't be easy but I'm wondering if it would be easier than the way we are now. If it weren't for our kids I would have left long ago. And please no advice on how to fix our marriage, we've probably been there and done that. Things have been bad for years and I'm just exhausted.
That is the major reason why men stay married because of the children they mean everything to us.
I'm intrigued by 'insurance'. What does this mean?
Medical insurance.
@towkneed The USA is a signatory of the UNICEF Convention on the Rights of Children which gives ALL healthcare to children under 16 for FREE.
In the UK and EU, this support is free for all. I work with a person whos non-medical care costs £1.4million per year. This is picked up by the County, Country and finally State (Sovereign State etc). If this isn't forthcoming, contact POTUS 45 and remind him that he needs to impose it. It is s problem with the USA, being so backwards in comparrison to the other 290 odd countries on earth, that each President has to sign upon taking office and I'm not sure if Trump has.
Beyond this, are there any charities where you live that can help?
I was in that situation and the daily disrespect I was shown made me leave. We managed, but it was a tough 15 years. Looking back I probably wouldn't have changed a thing. Autistic daughter turned out to be a joy but only because of a lot of work on both my x-wife's and my part.

Posted by altschmerzI was diagnosed with autism by a psychologist after a day of testing, but my current therapist keeps saying she doesn't think I have it (or I'm a "little bit" autistic).
