Hey all, I'm new to the site and joining a few groups this morning. I have a 15-year-old daughter who is super smart, amazing, brilliant, and high functioning/Asperger's.
There are a lot more girls than people usually think, we're usually diagnosed later, if ever.
My eldest daughter has Asperger's, girls seem to internalise it more but the boy/girl ratio is coming down, a few years ago the boy/girl ratio was 5:1 at least but estimates now put it at 3:1. Early awareness and diagnostic tools are getting better
@DharmaEngineer There is an increasing awareness of how sensory issues really affect autistic people. It covers a wide range of over and under stimuli that can have a huge impact. It's good to hear you have some OT input, getting coping strategies in place as soon as possible can really pay dividends
@ipdg77, I have a pretty severe case of Sensory Processing Disorder.

Posted by altschmerzI was diagnosed with autism by a psychologist after a day of testing, but my current therapist keeps saying she doesn't think I have it (or I'm a "little bit" autistic).
