I’m just starting Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84. Has anyone else read it and did you enjoy it?
I have heard nothing but good things about Murakami. Though I haven’t personally read any of his stuff, I think you’re in for a treat.
I have read a couple of his works, like Kafka on the Shore. So I’m familiar with him. I read somewhere that in a rush to get 1Q84 published in English they hired two different translators, giving each 1/2 of the book to translate. Which I guess is s very uncommon step to take in translating a work.
I haven't. Has it anything to do with people of IQs around 80 are deemed unemployable?
LOL no I don’t think so ?
Haruko Murakami is a Japanese writer of bestsellers in Japan and all the world, with his work being translated into 50 languages and selling millions of copies outside Japan. He has received numerous awards, including the World Fantasy Award, the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, the Franz Kafka Prize, and the Jerusalem Prize. His book named "1Q84" might mean 1984 because the sound of "cue" means 9 in Japanese language. But a character in this book says that Q stands for "question mark" meaning that this number is unknown..."Goodreads.com" gives this book a 4/5 stars and 84% readers like it.
