A lovely, LIVING, black ratsnake that I found in the road while on my way to meet my trivia team, tonight. I pulled him off the road and he's in the terrarium in the back of my car until I can relocate him to my parents' place. He'll be away from roads and have plenty of mice to hunt around the wood piles and barn. This is the first ratsnake I've found on the road this year that WASN'T squished.

good on ya for saving this corrugated-licorice-like beauty.

I appreciate it when people take the time to rescue snakes and other reptiles from roadways. In my opinion, your actions are heroic.

Last Thursday, I saw one on the road. I was hoping that he hadn't been run over when I approached. When I stopped, the snake shot down over a steep rocky embankment.

Hopefully, that one was frightened enough to stay clear of the asphalt.

They often bask on the warmth of the road. I always stop to help critters on their way. This one is a beauty.

OOO that is a beauty I love snakes. Hognose snakes are fun I used to catch them all the time and their fake death act was always so dramatic!
