Yes, Canadian history has these incidents as well. Just as importantly, we have the same tilled soil for populism here - arrogant politicians from all parities who think they are exempt from travel rules and guidelines, who buy $16 orange juice, who think they can do deals with private school buddies and accept $40,000 free trips and on and on and on. When citizens do not know where their tax dollars are going, when they can't connect literally or figuratively with them, the seeds are sown.
