Political Argument is futile but this isn't: simple discussion of economics.
. If political discussion worked then by sharing ideas everyone should agree. Even something as simple as whether Hillary is any good should result in a convergence of opinions but instead there is a divergence going on.
What lies behind politics though is economics, and it is possible to quantify results, at least to some extent, over expected short term and long term results.
Error bands will be large but as the year under debate approaches there will be better, not worse, agreement.
I'm suggesting we should have a Political Economics blend group. Not heavy duty economic theory that none of us will be able to apply, but simple and oriented towards prediction the near future and proposing good changes to make now.
I would contrast politics with economics by stating that in politics image is crucially important, whereas economics has a lot to do with reality.
For example, Britain had a popular far right politician Margaret Thatcher but to become Prime Minister the key requirement was not to sound like a witch, so she took voice training, became Prime Minister, and though most of us remember her as a witch, the key thing was she didn't sound like one.
It's the contrast between reality and image that makes present day politics so divisive.
