My dog Sam is having a rough few days. Friar Tuck is hiding and jumping out at him. We go and run and his normal wading spot is occupied by a giant duck. He jumps in the water and instead of quacking and complaining then swimming away. The giant duck screeches at him, then with giant wings flapping flys away.
It is a blue heron not a giant duck, and doesn't like your dog scaring the fish.
@Stevil Not until the dog came by anyway.
@Stevil Nice to know that you still have them, as they have been taking a real shit kicking here, the cause being the loss of nesting sites. Here they nest in isolated areas where the large cottonwoods over hang water. Lake and river front development has severely limited the number of these sites.
Definitely not a duck
Posted by FernappleI went for a walk in the woods today, and on a tiny oak tree, I found this wonderful cluster of, so called, Oak Apples.

Posted by sc62Day trip to the lake last weekend. I spent most of an afternoon next to this lily patch. It was such a nice, refreshing mini retreat.
