Meanwhile “nudist” may be used to describe those who hang out in the buff, but are less connected to the spiritual and health aspects.

I've always used "nudist" to describe a person who just prefers to be naked when possible, while I use "naturist" to describe a person who likes to be naked in the natural world, as opposed to being naked in "civilization".
