Sunday morning at 8:00 AM on Sept 22 it dipped down to 31 F outside as recorded by my Wasilla Alaska zone 4b home weather station. See the red line in the chart. It was 31-32 F for 1 hour. So this is my technical first frost date for 2024. As you can see by the green line inside my greenhouse was warmer, thanks to my electric space heater that added +8F. My separate sensor recorded a low greenhouse temperature of 39 F. My greenhouse warms up quickly as soon as the sun rises above the trees, This is why I highly recommend a home weather station with sensor inside and outside your greenhouse.
Must be nice to have cold weather! I'm jealous, where I live it's still in the 90's and I still have my air conditioner on!
@KateOahu Probably but I hate 100 degrees and more!
It has been Very Cold here for about a month already...I usually do not cover the aboveground pool until this week, it has been covered for 3 weeks, a new "early" by far for me and I have had the thing for over 40 years.
It'll be 91 tomorrow and then in the mid-to high 80s for the rest of the week here. It's very, VERY tiresome!
We hit 49 last night here in Deming. My morning walk with the dogs included a sweatshirt. We are seeing highs during the day in the high 80s and humidity is low.
@Redheadedgammy Well....it beats New Orleans, dunnit?
@pamagain Heck yes it beats the humidity in Texass and Louisiana!! My friend Dani is already talking about finding a way to move here! She loves the dryer weather here.
I went out for a walk this morning, I was wearing a short sleeved shirt, and seriously considered changing to long sleeves. Fall has fallen! I persevered as I was dressed, and didn't break a sweat on my walk.
Sounds wonderful, HC!
