This is why I hate the Pride month fanfare....
[vm.tiktok.com]
When do we get a straight people’s month?
You have every day of every year. Heterosexual folks never had to fight for the right to marry or love one another without viscous hate and persecution. Straight folks never had to worry about losing a job for being straight, not getting a loan because they were straight, or being murdered on the streets for being straight. The folks in the Alphabet Mafia have, including myself. Straight love has been celebrated since time immemorial.
@Ceaselessmind I want a month called out for straight people though.
Sounds like inequality to me.
@CourtJester hahaha sounds like ignorance to me. Like you have every year since any human existed but that is never enough. Gotta use that ignorance to keep trying to suppress a movement and a people. I got you.
@Ceaselessmind what happened to equality??? Why not recognize all sides???
@CourtJester you completely miss the entire point. I digress.
@Ceaselessmind "Heterosexual folks never had to fight for the right to marry or love one another without viscous hate and persecution."
Unless that person was a heterosexual woman who had fought for her right to choose who to marry and deny.
Or if it was a prince who didn't want to marry the princess.
Or people born in to very strict Church societies, like Nuns, or people born into certain cults.
Heterosexuals who tried to marry interracial.
@CourtJester I think equality is the down to Earth recognizanation that we all have eyes. That on the basic level, that we are all people and there is nothing to be afraid of.
@Ello well, that is a a gender cause. Not to diminish the struggle of others however, overall heterosexuals have been able to marry. Homosexuals have not been given this so generous latitude. We were simply killed or cast out from society. We were demonized, ridiculed, and constantly told we were horrible, sinful, degenerates & made to feel less than human. Mostly due to religious reason but also for reasons derived from toxic masculinity. Women born into cultures, such as Muslim, where it is a theocracy that men control are treated badly for sure but even then gay men are treated far worse. Lesbians are either celebrated or condemned also but mostly condemned. In areas where Theocratic men control the laws, some perversion seems to exist that allows a small bit of favoritism torward lesbians or lesbian actions. It is sick, and twisted.
@Ceaselessmind The world's hate persists sadly. At least there is more reform now.
Your comment is basically... "Although my house is NOT on fire and my neighbor's house IS on fire, I was just as much water sprayed on MY house as my neighbor is getting. Otherwise my neighbor's house is getting special treatment."
You can hate Pride Month, but these corporations are not Pride Month. They are opportunists, and despite their hypocrisy, there is still some benefit to individuals struggling for self-respect to see that their personal struggle at least has broad appeal and recognition in the Publix c space. We may not be able ever to totally stop usurpers, but that is still not enough reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Aside from that point, the string of corporations highlighted as hypocrits often have muddier, more confusing track records than what was just shown. Any truly large mega-corporation is going to have a ton of community and social causes entanglements. Relatively few, perhaps none, have pure, virtuous, unambiguous track records. Disney, for example, is not simply anti-lgbtq. To claim they are is bogus. They appear to have some muddled cross-purposes.
Corporations are always going to jump on the bandwagon if it will earn them a buck. It's just for publicity.
Although it might not even be a bandwagon.
There is reason that they support Pride Month as a face slap, they sap money out of people and give it to the people who don't like Pride Month. Because they may also dislike PM>
