Church protects their own just like our Government protects their own...if the Church can get away with hiding behind their Religious BS then what incentive does the Government have to not do the same when the majority are Conservative Christian Right? Leadership is not based on compassion for fellow man but rather biased, hateful, sexually repressed
male dominance. The Church is running this country more and more and until Separation of Church and State are reestablished there will never be true equality for anyone ... The ignorant fools that are constantly given the keys to the Government were put their to serve a purpose...help the Church rule mankind...add 10% tithe and you have a self regenerating perfect storm that is now rapidly steamrolling legislation that will destroy all the progress that has been made.

I'm glad to see that the Catholic Church standing up against this kind of hatred within its own organisation. Regardless of whether you believe gay sex is a sin or not, aren't they supposed to hate the sin, but still love the sinner?
