Trans kids aren't confused about who they are: [theatlantic.com]
No, they aren’t confused. But far to many are made to conform to the assigned gender roles because adults think they are confused or that this “is a phase”. Just a “phase” they’ve been living with for their entiire life. At least there is more visibility now.
@PalacinkyPDX The ‘net is a blessing and a curse. WAY too much incorrect info, but very easy to find support and other important info. When I transitioned 20+ years ago, everything was in person. Typically, you had to be referred to a support group and go to conferences to find out about doctors and the results. Now all that can be found with a few clicks. Unfortunately, those clicks can lead to bad info or confusion.
@PalacinkyPDX When we become visible, it is a double edged sword. It ican ncrease other peoples understanding of us, but it can also make us targets of hate.
Every civil rights victory leads to backlash. So, not surprisingly there has been a backlash since the marriage equality victory. Unfortunately, trans people were targeted because we are a small group and the most different.
