When I learned that Elton John was gay, I remembered the song "Daniel", and though how it was likely that it was originally written as "Dan your my lover" instead of " Dan your my brother". What do you think?
The meaning behind this song has always puzzled me, so I've taken this as an incentive to Google.
The song is apparently about a soldier returning from Vietnam, being unable to handle the situation back home, and emigrating to Spain (chosen simply because it rhymes with plane.) The last verse would have made that clear, but they decided to cut it because the song was too long.
