So... how do they solve the lubrication problem? Or do the person just need to use artificial lubricant?

The Cowper’s gland remains and can provide some lubrication, though this depends on the individual, and the level of arousal. In general, artificial lubrication is used. But this is common for many cisgender women as well, and almost universal for women after menopause.
