What a lovely pair
Thanx They are actually part of a community of trios of each, plus one house gekko. I intend to breed the trios next year as the days get longer.
Maybe I'll find a male gekko by then
@pixiedust
Cool. I kept those when I first moved up here. I managed to get them to breed once successfully.
I have also kept larger lizards such as iguanas and monitors in Florida.
I kept a variety of snakes too, mostly cornsnakes, Ball Pythons and a big albino Burmese python named Sam.
I found good homes for them all before I moved. I wasn't one of those idiots releasing exotic reptiles into Florida's ecosystem.
Thinking about dividing my lizards by species before breeding season for best results.
@pixiedust
Many subtropical lizards will need a period of shorter days and longer, cooler nights, as well as reduced feeding for a few weeks to months before breeding season.
This period is known as Brumation, where the reptile slows down quite a bit but does not become torpid as in hibernation. Feeding slows to a near halt in some monitors.
As the days get longer and warmer, breeding resumes and feeding increases.
