I live in rural eastern Oregon which is a hotbed of conservatism, Republicans and gun lovers. The Oregon Department of Field and Wildlife offers periodic hunters safety courses for a nominal fee. Last week I see this sign...in the dentists waiting room of all places. (shaking my head) I think the NRA is trying to drum up some new, younger blood!
Ps-my husband says I have eagle like spotting skills. It's been up for 6 months or so. ???

Then I would ask him/her if he/she supports what the NRA has been doing. Let them think they may be losing patients by being so open about this.

I saw a headline linking poverty and gun violence [theatlantic.com]. Eastern Oregon tends to be poorer than the west. This might be true for other parts of the country as well.

I used to live in Coos Bay OR, I have a friend that took his son elk hunting. The kid shot and killed an elk and then did whatever the hell they do to them so the meat won't spoil.... I think the kid was 8 years old. I didn't know if I should be afraid of this kid or not

"dressing" the elk. Cutting off the head allowing to bleed out, removing the coat, entails and organs. Good times. Where I am from you see hunters coming back into town after a successful hunt looking like they committed murder. No one gives it a second look. I'm convinced would be the perfect cover up after committing a gruesome homicide. Lol
Or, they could always go birdwatching, and then go to a supermarket, instead of this. Hows that elk meat doing in the freezer still? Frozen like some mastodon meat and won't get eaten? Know what I get a hankerin' for after a hard day? Its a big ol slab of ELK. Like I think im fucking Tarzan. Then i get over myself, throw that poor dead beautiful wild animal in the trash and go get some factory farmed meat. Mmm.
It seems to be getting worse. I feel there has been a definite ramping up of NRA.

@AdorkableMe We have to have the blue wave in November or we are done for. But even with that said I wonder how many Democrats with back down if the NRA starts waving lots of money in front of them. I am totally disgusted with the politics of this country.
