I asked my dad about what he thought about teachers being allowed in schools by teachers. He made a good point. He asked if they would be in a desk draw, and a student could get it. Never thought of that. Plus most wouldn't know how to handle a school shooting. I think it was CBS had 6-8 people trained to shoot pistol (few hours at a range). Then they gave them "live" pistols at a gun seminar. They had a fake mass shooter come in with a paint ball gun. Only one attempted to unholster. As per the paint balls, they would have all been dead. You need to focus on bulges that could be a potential problem. Can't do that and teach at the same time.
It is completely ridiculous! One thing I can see happening with that is that if an active shooter situation comes up, now you have all of these teachers with guns. No doubt at least one or two will come out of the classroom even though they are told to stay in there. So, now the cops show up and there are three or four people with guns. Which one is the active shooter? I see an accident happening there. And also, a kid finding the gun and accidently shooting it. Or in the case of Jr. High or High School kids, they may purposely find it and use it. There is just so much that can go wrong. I work at a police department and not one of our officers think that it is a good idea. Just for the very reason that they may not know if the person with the gun is a teacher or not.
That won't be "an accident happening there"... it will be the inevitable result. Can't wait to see the first case of that happening... dead people everywhere and the actual shooter probably walking out the back door laughing. Then maybe people will 'get it'.
The NRA and it’s feckless supporters all seem to think a school shooting would be like a game of call of duty, where anyone with a gun is suddenly a badass soldier able to keep their cool in front line combat... There truly is no bottom to human stupidity.
