This "stand your ground law" is the same law that was used to defend the shooting of Trayvon Martin. If this is being factually presented, this this guy was shot for parking in the wrong parking place by a guy who had a history of threatening people with violence.

The dude came out of a store and say this guy arguing with his girlfriend, he came up behind the guy and gave him a shove, the guy fell down on his butt and turned around and shot the guy that shoved him, who bled out in the parking lot. Because the now dead guy shoved butt man first no charges have been filed under Florida's stand your ground law, butt man walks.
Sounds like the killer has been itching to "legally" kill someone for a while and finally got his wish. I'm going to use this story to once again remind my boys that it's better to walk away, even if you're in the right. I wish the victim had just gotten in his car and taken his family home. Such an awful story.
I know we have some very scary gun rights in this country and it isn't going to get better any time soon
It is tragic... I had lived in Florida... noticed that florida is the south, plenty of hispanics and blacks so laws like Stand Your Ground got drafted protect the white threated by the Invading Minorities. Having said that I consider a moral obligation Not Use a handicap parking space... not even when I drove my sister vehicle with handicap plates I never parked in such designated space, I even get on her case because she uses such spaces and I don't think her back problems are bad enough have such plates... I will say her... you can't park 30 feet away from the store but you can walk for an hour in the store trying out clothes and high heels for going dancing! A parking space should not get you killed but once you start arguing and getting your hands in another individual... you are making a decision of playing with fire. Sure he thought I can take that old man, sure he didn't gave a fuck that his children were in the car, the mother of his children were in the car. I noticed without looking at photos.... the dead's name sound black and the killer's name sound white. I hope he ended up in jail rotting, Those who go around life with a gun for protection are Sick individuals looking for a Fight. But the victim could had drove away instead of the physical assault... Respect of others been missing in ameriKKKa maybe not from the beginning, sure missing for a long time and will continue missing with an administration without any respect for other than . Violence in ameriKKKa. When a country lived with an illusion of being great... it is easy Kill that Never return. THIS IS NOT AND NEVER BEEN A GREAT NATION! A great nation do Not Need Stand Your Ground Laws.
Leave it to Florida. From what people have told me that have lived there, all you need to do is "feel threatened" in order to shoot.
I live here and doubt I could get away whith that defense but they don’t call it FloriDA for nothing.
It's not Florida. It's most of the country. I support "Castle Doctrine" only. You invade my home, my "castle" I should be able to assume you will do violence or will do violence when threatened with confrontation since you have already invaded my home. Most of the country lets scared people shoot whoever they want
@DJVJ311 Thanks for the reply! Ironically I live in Nebraska which has one of the leanest gun laws in the US. This is weird. I have never heard of any of the terms used in the chart, but I was always told that if you defend yourself when someone breaks in your door, you better make sure the body is inside of the house. Duality? I guess we all learn something new every day!
