I can see the reasoning for different locations for gun and ammo. i had a father who was my genetic gene contributor as I referred to him. When he got drunk he liked to fight. When he was gone, Mom would take the bullets and hide them. He would throw her out of the house, get out the rifle, and threaten to kill her and us. It was an interesting childhood. If I knew how to use a gun, I would have killed him when I was 5 yrs old.

In the UK you need two show the police two safes. One for firearms, the other for ammo. Either one is only for that.
Kind of funny, but I know a FFL dealer that I just saw at the grocery store. He tried selling me 2 M1A's.
