It's not surprising in Kt. the coal industry has left a lot of ghost towns whose tax base has evaporated. There is no easy or fast fix. The coal industry is so toxic it needs to die. Unfortunately natural gas that is replacing it doesn't require a lot of people to run. I think some of these places need to face the fact that they need to find another way, coal needs to die.
This is a money issue. Here many of the sheriffs in central Wash. state have said they won't enforce the new gun regulation laws. They claimed they were unconstitutional (as if these people were Constitution experts). When the full extent of the ruling takes place on July 1 the constitutionality of the law will be asserted (the NRA already has sued the state). If it is found legal these sheriffs will have to obey.
