I was going to rant and rave about something John Kelly said about Planned Parenthood and the NRA, there is something else I need to say first…
. This country was founded on Government of the people, by the people, for the people. It's been that way for 250yrs with one small exception Grover Cleveland (lost popular vote still became pres.) This is the only non-third world country that getting the most votes from the people does not guarantee winning the election. That is what is happening now. Trump lost the popular vote by 2.9 million votes. Yet he is the President. That is not what the people wanted so how did it happen? Because we let it, like it or not that is the truth. We let it, because we forgot about the “by the people” part. When government does the wrong thing it’s our job to make it right. Unfortunately we have failed miserably.
We have a less than useless idiot in the Whitehouse and we sit on our fat asses and look at each other and wonder how this happened. Because, we let it happen. Now in all fairness most of us (including me) don't really know how to change things. Not an excuse, the old adage "ignorance of the law is not an excuse for breaking it". This is our country and a lot of us don't seem to have a lot of pride in it right now. Which is understandable, although, not an excusable reason. We can no longer leave politics to the politicians. It’s time for us to figure out how to get rid of Trump and then do it. Remember by the people, for the people.
The representatives we elected who were supposed to hear how we want to live and then go to Washington and make it happen have failed us time after time. They have listened to the people who paid the freight on getting them in office and only doing what they asked, not what we ask.
As long as the same type of people are the only people campaigning, and as long as they think the only way to win elections is by raising and spending ridiculous sums of money, and as long as they think the only place to get ridiculous sums of money is big business nothing is going to change.
The answer is so simple that it can't be right, figure out how to get elected without spending ridiculous sums of money. Sounding simple does not mean it's actually is simple. With all of the social media available today, I see no reason it can't be done. To feel real pride in our country again it has to be done.
Somebody has to step forward and campaign for office thru other ways that don't require ridiculous sums of money. Whether or not we are motivated enough to actually do this remains to be seen.
