Illinois. This got no coverage until after it passed. Maybe this will be the beginning of something sane ... or at least less insane.
ILLINOIS APPROVES BILL TO FINGERPRINT
[thehill.com]
I am constantly amazed at why don't these, so-called 2nd amendment pushers read the whole amendment and consistently forget the part of "well regulated"? And even worse why don't the promoters of this part remind those, self-serving numb skulls of it's presence and the presence of the Supreme Court's decision on this that regulations are also allowed? The next step should be a photograph of the person obtaining a gun permit.
Outstanding. I am all for this type of stricter gun laws. Setting a good example for the rest of the country hopefully more will follow suit. Not anywhere good enough though.
Government already has my fingerprints from the military and for my LTC. Got nothing to hide so why should I care.
Coordination between mental health records and the NICS background check system is the single most important thing we can do to curb gun violence. Won't see major impact until we get there.
Good measure to protect from crazy people getting guns
@chaoticmind but can show criminal charges related to mental illness worked corrections more than you think
@chaoticmind worked medical department in corrections many prisoners were clinically insane but still convicted and not guilty by reason of insanity will also show sorry havnt had coffee yet
At least as big a problem as the laws is enforcement of those laws. Will be interesting to see if any action is taken against those whose licenses have expired. And having the license only means you may own at least 1 firearm. In theory, enforcement could roll up on a residence where an owner's license has expired, only to discover they have an armory. Then what?
An invasion of privacy when most will gladly spill their guts about everything else on FB...that is rich...
If it will help identify and keep those without a valid license from having a legal gun, as a non-criminal gun owner, I have no issue...and might even give up the gun if I felt that strongly about it...also seems like a way to make a bit of money...sigh...there is always that...
The world is changing and we are going to have to do something about these shootings...
