Gun violence, for one weekend (May 31 thru June 2, as much info as is available) in two of America's bloodiest cities:
Chicago/Chiraq, IL
*44 people shot, 8 fatalities
Friday to Saturday**
[chicago.suntimes.com]
St. Louis, MO
9 shootings, 2 dead

I had a brainwave this morning so bear with me. I see the problem as not one of the huge number of guns nor the crazy number of shootings. The issue is clearly that we fail to take any meaningful steps toward addressing this issue. The problem is that after decades & a constant escalation of the killings we still hang on to the definition of crazy; doing the dame thing (nothing) over and over and expect thing swill change (the gun nuts). The problem is we won't even allow any funding to study this phenomenon. The problem is that the institution that preaches love and regard for life is, at the same time, the one that is a prime supporter of this madness.
@SeaGreenEyez Under Clinton the CDC and NIH were denied any funding for gun violence research. This is NOT a part of the 2nd amendment.
@SeaGreenEyez Years ago I read an analysis in a German paper that went into detail how guns actually change the way people think about themselves and their place in the world. It was scary. I think I still have the report. Maybe we should look for studies outside the self-conflicted country.
@SeaGreenEyez The one I have was not (Germans don't do short or quick studies. They can sometimes be really anal). I'll have to check and see if I still have it. Problem is, how do we get these studies to apply here. Remember, we are (so some think) a 'special' people!?
