This story should speak to all those people that don't care about sane gun laws. This mass shooting was twarted, not by armed teachers, not by high tech equipment in the school, but by a simply twist of fate. The usual way mass shootings are twarted.

They still won't care. When Sandy Hook didn't touch these evil, ignorant fuckers, I knew nothing would. As horrible as it sounds, if America had seen footage of these children laying on the ground shot all to hell, maybe, just maybe that would have brought some changes. Americans need visuals to prod them into change. Americans were very comfortable with war, because up until Vietnam, folks didn't see the reality of war. TV news changed all of that. When they saw it, it changed the tide of support for the war. We need the same shock treatment now. IMO

@SeaGreenEyez It has become so commonplace, it doesn't seem to faze people anymore. I call this country's love of guns, the John Wayne Syndrome. I really believe the movies have had a great influence on the way we look at guns. Guns were so prevalent, and glorified in the movies of we Boomers and our parents ( people didn't even bleed in those movies until the mid or late sixties ), I believe it has given us an unrealistic view of guns. Maybe when we Boomers are gone, it will change. Unfortunately thousands of more people will die needless deaths until that time.

@SeaGreenEyez It is sad we just accept this as normal. It reminds me of when I was in elementary school and we had drills in case of a nuclear war. I remember the real fear of a nuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

@SeaGreenEyez Yes, it really is.
