I'm going to skip gun violence statistics and numbers today for a first hand accounting and plea, from one black man to all the others in Chicago. (Sad. So very sad.)

Reparations? How about an end to the murder of us by us?

It is a sad situation and true. I think many of us realize this but aren't willing to say it for being afraid of being branded as racists. The overarching problem is poverty. This community is, more and more, having to compete with others willing to work for less which often denies them of even menial work. Unfortunately, poverty begets violence and it becomes a vicious cycle.

@SeaGreenEyez The only genre of music where the artists shoot at each other is mostly black. Seems like that would be the place to start, get them to quit shooting at each other. More cops is not the answer for that, it has to come fron them. They have to get tired of watching everybody around them die, and want it to stop. We have to give them something, better and safer, to do than be in a gang and sell drugs.

@SeaGreenEyez Don't follow?

Oh so true... I will tell you a true story happening on a Love and Peace festival in Puerto Rico back in the days circa 1972...
was an International event with big acts ala Woodstock... Mar y Sol festival... and a friend from high school was there robbing people and at gunpoint he rob this drug dealer that came from New York... the victim told him ..."oh my fellow Puerto Rican giving a discord note with violence among peaceful folks"... and the robber felt remorse and told him "I give you choice take back your money or take back your drugs"... I don't remember the final end of the story which one he took the drugs or the money... years later he was telling the story and how sad and moved he was of his actions in other days and times.... How can I forget that first hand account of one of the actors in the scene... but the mentality of violence for the sake of violence can be removed from all of us. It is the only way to a better world.
