Despite the more than 30,000 gun-related deaths that occur in America every year, firearms receive relatively little attention as a subject of public-health research, because of the federal government’s de facto ban on researching the health impact of gun violence.

I hate to burst the bubble, nothing is going to change. We have failed these kids. The governor tried and the NRA sued. Gov't isn't going to do shit. They need to take it to the source, put 500 people in the parking lot of gun stores until they agree to stop selling assault weapons. They don't need the gov't to get what they want.

Let the NRA sue! I hope they waste all their money and SCOTUS shows some common sense.

The CDC was actually instructed by trumpty dumpty and his henchmen to stop research and they might have cut off funding? Anyone know for sure?

That was done long ago/ Trump may embrace it but Republicans gutted sanity with guns a long time ago.

I just attended a protest/rally at our school here on the island. 17 minutes of silence from the crowd. This is a national movement and even small districts are involved. The young people are making a stand that too many adults were either afraid or too stupid to make. It may be a game changer.

Emma Gonzalez is the avatar for a new generation. Any teen age girl who goes on national television with a buzz cut and basically says "I have a life to live, f**k you and your hair hangups" has my support. This is a game changer..

& all the schools that have threatened suspensions for a 17 minute protest should be inundated with letters! At the very least this is a learning experience for the students, at the most, as you say, a game changer. #NeverAgain!!!

@phxbillcee The teachers, students and a lot of adults were there. It was funny watching our sheriff standing in the parking lot next to the main road. I saw him watching the traffic to see who was speeding. I also saw some motorists coming on a little fast and then slow down as they saw the sheriff. There were as many adults as students (it is a smaller school of some 230+ students).

@SACatWalker This has spread to many adults as well. There will be some changes but the question is how much?)
