The process here is long and possibly impossible we can't tell who is going to go off, and who is just weird.

The gun people will look to any excuse and point to anyone else to justify their ideals. Unfortunately, the whole world has had more than ample proof that their claims cannot be justified under any circumstances.

In the 70's my family was visiting me in Germany. My dad was itching to drive in the autobahn and he did. He also complained about the German restrictions on guns. My mom said that in the U.S. there were speed limits (then 55mph) and none for guns. The Germans just had a different view of things than we did. He was enjoying their view of unlimited speed.

This was quite interesting.
I already believed in isolating people who show violent tendencies from society at least until they show improvement.

Which in this case would've avoided the incident. I'd suggest bringing back mental institutions.

I used to own an ALF (Assisted Living Facility) that specialized in LMH (Limited Mental Health). Sometimes you can be completely nice and hospitable...and it won't change a thing.

it's sad. We like to think that kindness and logic will win. But it doesn't.
