Why do people believe "cures" like "Walk it off", "just say 'No'", and gay conversion therapy are useful solutions? Are they really that numb or are they that uncaring?

I believe the answer to your question is really quite simple. Ignorance is the reply that I would offer. That and the fact that they want the solution to be simple with not effort from them. It's pretty much the same as 'prayers and thoughts' which means not a goddam thing.
