The Dickey Amendment says "none of the funds made available for injury prevention and control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) may be used to advocate or promote gun control" and has been used to block all research. Now although they haven't revoked that, Trump has signed into law the clarification that research is not blocked.
