In 2011, there were 13.7 million hunters 16 years old or older in the United States, and they spent $7.7 billion on guns, sights, ammunition, and other hunting equipment.
I am against handguns and long guns or auto- and semi-automatic rifles but I AM pro-hunting. I am also VERY anti-NRA. I eat meat and if someone wants to go out and kill an animal for food why not? I also believe owning a hunting rifle should be like owning a car: you take a test or 2 and get licensed. Also most state DNR's rely on hunters for population control of certain game animals. Since fewer and fewer folks are taking up hunting some state DNR's are worried they will have to pick up the slack and they currently don't have those resources.
All of the above except I do have a hand gun. I carry it while hunting in case I get surprised by a rattlesnake . A rifle in that situation is practically useless.
And 11% of all gun ammo and accessories goes to conservation, more than any other source, of our national wildlands
How does that work? seriously I'd like to know
I would like to know as well.
Is there a point here? If one eats what they kill, why is that an issue?. How much is spent in grocery stores?
Yes, the point is guns are big business and big business isn't interested in gun control or banning assault weapons.
@nvrnuff Kids, This is the first time students from a mass shooting have stood up and said "No More!" That's the only thing I know that is more important than money. You hurt a child and you are on your own. Do you know what happens to wife beaters and child molesters when they go to jail? They spend their entire sentence in solitary confinement, and that usually doesn't work, they get the shit beat out of them as often as possible. The face of gun control is a child's
@MikeFlora not even close. Walmart doesn't make money on ar-15s, the margin is too low. Field and stream pulled "assault weapons" (wretch) multiple times over the years and we're planning on doing it this year anyway (again, margins). It was PR and everyone not in the gun world fell hard for it
This is one reason why long guns are available to younger people. However, it should not include assault weapons. If the gun industry had it's way there would be no bans for any weapons by any group. It is the industry and it's lackey the NRA that is the problem and everything they say is totally self-serving. Too few understand that basic premise and go along just like cowardly sheep they are!!
Money Talks
Funny not a single mention of a Well Regulated Militia.
Big business doesn't care about well regulated anything
@MikeFlora Big Pharma will like to have a word with you. It is about Control. I hope you consider big pharma a big business.
