I forgot to say thank you for your service. My dad was USAAC before USAF and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He felt similarly about the gun issue

@AmelieMatisse Yes, you are right we do sometimes get lumped into one group or at least there is that perception that we are somehow all ultra conservatives. This couldn’t be further for the truth. I’m very much a liberal and I am becoming more politically active and I support liberal causes like Gun Control and the removal of the entire class of assault weapons.

@AmelieMatisse Thank you very much I feel humbled every time someone thinks me for my service. Thank you to your father and all of my military brothers and sister who were at Pearl Harbor and saved the world during WW2. They were the true heroes. During the march there was a WW2 veteran who was in a wheelchair and marched with us.

@Coldo I never said it works but look around 3rd party, 4th party sistems. Nothing gets done either, just more politics to go around.

I agree that there needs to be some changes to our political system and by extension the Two Party system. I think the money needs to be removed from politics. All elections should be run by the government with all candidates getting equal time. There needs to be term limits for all branches of government to include the Supreme Court (only kings serve for life). The Electoral College needs to go and the president be elected like every other office in the country, by the popular vote. With all that being said the greatest change need to take place in the American is with the attitude of the people. We are very poor stewards of our government. We don’t pay attention as much as we should and we have become so tribal that “winning” has become more important than being a good American and voting responsibly and in the best interest of the county and the American people. We are a house divided.

Both are beholden to those special interest groups that pay for them to be elected.
I voted for Hilary only because I thought Trump was an unethical businessman and would be a terrible president..but underestimated how horrific he would be. I loved Bernie.

@LibrePenseur I love that idea. I always thought free equal time on NPR with no contributions allowed would facilitate politicians actually talking about the contribution they want to make and how...instead of the Reality TV shit storm we get in the debates and advertisements we had last election.
