So one thing that worries me about the Texas shooting is that it will become ammunition for the NRA to claim that they need "good guns" in school.
This particular shooting would not have been prevented by any foreseeable gun control law. The hero of the situation apparently took a bullet protecting people.
This is going to be cast as a "we need good guns in schools - arm selected teachers" argument.
Thoughts on how to counter this absurd but inevitable conclusion with direct argument would be appreciated.
The fallacy the NRA uses is that there are good guys with guns and bad guys with guns. The truth is not that black and white. The truth is we all have some good and bad tendencies. When the good guy with a gun gets ticked off he just might use the gun.
There were guns in the school and there was even a shoot-out. The NRA is having a harder and harder time making their crap believable. I noticed few 'thoughts and prayers' being offered so at least something is changing.
I hadn't heard that.
I have been watching to see the 'thoughts and prayers and have not heard any, so far.
