Technically it wasn't even about individual gun ownership at first. It originally meant that each state had the right to a militia.

@BettyColeman If they had wanted everybody to have a gun it would just say " The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". The fact that it says anything beyond that means the founding fathers had some limitations in mind, it would've been nice if they explained it better.
@MikeFlora I agree about explaining better, but keep in mind they had no comprehension of weapons of mass destruction. George Washington's one wooden tooth would have probably fell out if he saw an AR15, lol
@BettyColeman It was 250 years ago, the whole thing needs updating
@MikeFlora I agree, a revamp is in order. Our country has outgrown parts of our constitution.
