I was reading this post today and found many parts of it would be of interest to folks here. Note the list of assumptions being made just to do science. While these assumptions may feel reasonable (and they might be reasonable), they are still unproven assumptions. We are so practiced at these assumptions that most folks forget about them and just assume them to be self-evident truths. In short, people become dogmatic and act with faith.
What is a law? We don't assume that physical laws exist, we create them in the sense that physical laws are a human description of the rhythms and patterns of nature that we observe, measure, and test.
Quote From the first world war "If you know a better hole[Dug out trench] .. Go to it"
Sorry to be flippant but I feel about this assumption that this all we will get for quite a few millennia. When is the best time to question assumptions ? Perhaps when you are testing out a new theory/ What would that be?
Interesting point but Mathematics are pretty certain. That's the think about Scientific Theories, they are interesting as thought experiments but the capacity to actually calculate the consistency of events is limited to some of the best minds. But the formulas that are Law, are absolute.
@Scoobs beautifully said. Now, to return serve, the collection of two 1's would and could be called something else but the theory behind the collection of two 1's is the same. Whether it be two fingers, bones or alien titties. Or a more direct association with Mathematics, take SI UNITS of measurements. The reason why America has miles versus metrics. Either way, knowing the value of the smaller gives you the formula for the latter. So wabalabadubdub !!

Posted by Fibonacci1618Saw this, loved it, thought I'd share it..... In truth, I don't like the minority vs Euro Saxon depiction, but the larger point I thought was worth sharing.
