This post won't change a dam thing, except I get to peel it off my chest..I hate that the cost of shipping is going up and impacting consumers, but that median wage needs to be doubled at a minimum if not tripled for what we are responsible for, and the sufferings only a driver knows all too well.
I've been an owner operator for 17 years and up to just the last year and a half or so have i noticed rates going up. It's good for me but not so good for the consumer. One problem and I'm sure it's not the only one is most people aren't willing to work hard and sacrifice to earn a good pay check. My wife also drives and she earned $72,000 last year. There isn't too many jobs to where one can make that kind of money. Talk to Walmart drivers often and most make around $100,000 annually.
@Pbpierson2 yes I am a huge fan of Thomas Paine. My journey to atheism began with reading "The Age of Reason " several years ago. Also read Rights of Man and Common Sense. As far as Walmart , all I can tell you is what there drivers tell me. I've heard they've loosened their standards some and plan on taking some of their DC's back from outside carriers, hense they need a lot more drivers. You should check it out!
@Pbpierson2 Paine did enjoy the spirits a little too much and so did Hitch with his Johnny Black! Nothing wrong with loosening the tongue before a debate. Back in Paine's time a lot of the debates were in taverns. Lol
@Pbpierson2 have you read "God is not great by Hitchens? Great book! I was sincerely saddened when we lost Hitch. Have you ever heard the phrase " you've been Hitch slapped?" Lol
I fully understand. Being a truck driver would not be an easy way to make a living.
@Pbpierson2 Always glad to help out a fellow conservative atheist.
I'm with you there ...
@Pbpierson2 Until they have crawled under a rig in the rain to adjust their brakes,,, they will never know. ?
