I’ve just read an article this morning by Tory Grandee Lord Patten…formerly Chris Patten, Governor of Hong Kong at the time of our hand back to China in 1997 and former Conservative Party Chairman. It’s definitely a sign that the Party is in trouble when Tory figures of his stature speak scathingly of Boris Johnston and his present cabinet of gutless yes men & women….the following excerpt from the article is a direct quote from him after Monday’s confidence vote by Tory M.P.s….

“I was dismayed to see the Johnston Cult still hanging on, it is shameful and seedy to do so. The most depressing thing is - I’ve been watching interviews with ministers this evening, and find the titles alone ridiculous and so depressing - Jacob Rees-Mogg, ‘Minister for Brexit Opportunities’ - If ever there was a contradiction in terms, it is that. And nobody should ever see the words ‘Nadine Dorries’ and Culture Secretary in the same sentence” .

What is it going to take to get Boris out ? Sadly I just don’t think Keir Starmer is cutting through the public consciousness as Opposition leader, and even if the Tories manage to oust BoJo…it’s entirely possible whoever steps into his shoes will win the next election and that would mean the Tories in power for the foreseeable future. Talk about Patten feeling depressed! 🥲
