Politicians

To be a politician
you must honourable be.
You must never answer ‘yes' or ‘no'
or touch a lady’s knee.

A bold PM debates with skill
and valiantly quenches
distractions such as pretty knees
on opposition benches.

To be a politician
you must learn to pass the blame.
You must really thicken up your skin
and be impervious to shame.

If you’re asked an awkward question
you must change the subject fast.
You can talk at length of something else
till the question time is past.

You might become prime minister
if you play your cards just right.
You must shuffle round your cabinet
when the criticism’s tight.

And if you’re bored when in ‘the house’
you mustn’t sigh or yawn,
just open up your mobile phone
and watch some tractor porn.

Great lyrics; what's the tune? Pirates of Penzance?

Great poem! Did you write it?

Petter Level 9 June 15, 2022

No . A friend wrote . She addresses all her thoughts to management about complaints etc in this kind of poetic form. It often pays off.

@Mcflewster I'd love to see it more widely spread.

If only it were no worse than that.

Never keep a single pledge,
And all your statements made,
Be sure to carefully hedge,
You must also flout, all the very laws,
You made and wrote with mucky paws.

Posted by webspider555I’m beginning to wonder whether our government is just incompetent or are all these things happening just to get us in a rage arguing amongst ourselves.
