Favorite Athletes and their Theistic Beliefs-
Just mulling this over today a bit, ....I wonder what other non-believer sports fans think, or whether it is important to them as to the stated ideals of their favorite athletes.
I tend to follow individual athletes rather than teams, and to do this for their careers.
In the last 5-10 years, two of my favorites have been Jeremy Lin and Nick Foles. (And yes, my being a fan of Nick Foles predated his 2017 heroics.) I've noticed that both of them are very vocal about their theistic (Christian brand) idealism. I suppose it bothers me some of the time, but not much, and I do like seeing them have ideals, even if those ideals are not IMO very good ones.
About 16 years ago, another player I started following was Oliver Perez. It was a disappointment to me when his attitude was not team-oriented toward the Mets, but it was what it was - I stuck with following him, but had less regard for him because of that situation. I don't know whether he is into Christianity or not.
Note, I don't follow these people because they are statistically "the best" (obviously, for the most part they are not, and sometimes they are simply not very good). It's just something about them and their stories that intrigues me.
I am impressed by Foles as well. I cannot stand the NFL any more, but my opinion of him was that he was/is the Eagles' best quarterback. His proselytizing is annoying as fuck, but he hasn't beaten a woman unconscious, committed any rapes, or abused children as far as I know; so I'll give him a pass on the fairy tales and avoid his interviews.
@Alvinsmama I grew up with cowboys, cowgirls, cattle, was VP of my HS rodeo team. I mostly only rode broncs, and sucked at it enough to not make it a career. No matter what I do in life I will always be a cowboy at heart
@Alvinsmama He was full of shit. I have met many a cowgirl in my life, and many will put a cowboy to shame. My nephew runs a large ranch in central NM, has lots of horses. Care to go riding again? I hear the third time is the charm
Posted by Ray13I just joined this group, thought it would be best one to post something like this: Thought this might interest some of my fellow agnostics - I just donated my 160th pint (total 20 gallons) of blood...

Posted by Reason-AbleI’m 54 and bored. I needed a project and decided to buy a truck and make it my project. I’ve been adding little mods to it every weekend. Any other vehicle enthusiasts in the group?

Posted by flower_nutMy mother's best friend worked for the local newspaper and decided to dress me as a leprechaun and use it for Saint Patrick's Day. I was a smiling leprechaun, whatever that was?
