A little ditty from one of my ancestries. The Basque are an interesting group. Little is actually known about their origins and they are not related to any other European race. They were also serious maritime explorers, and were fishing off the Northeastern coast of America before Columbus got lost and stumbled into the Carribean. They also met with and likely traded with the Native Americans in the area, and it is possible that the weird prevalence of the R1 genotype in northeastern America. And they definitely left the Native Americans with some Basque loan words / inspired words.
The Basques are considered to be part of the Celtic family. The Celts migrated from their origins in the Upper Danube region of central/west Europe and settled around the western fringes of the continent. The Celtic regions and related languages are now found scattered around the edges of Europe from Galicia in the south, and include travelling northwards….Basque, Brittany, Scilly Isles, Cornwall, Wales, Isle of Man, Ireland and Scotland (especially the Scottish western isles). They were thought to have migrated from the Danube region by going north to the Baltic and then travelling by sea north to south around the periphery of Europe, Galicia being last in their migration, although it’s now also believed that Catalonia in Spain was visited and colonised by Celts and certain words in their language are definitely Celtic in origin.
Translation from Euskara to English.
The name of the song "Piztiak" means Beasts.
(I think something gets lost in translation)
