Estas Tonne describes himself as a modern day troubadour. He was born in Ukraine in 1975 when it was part of USSR, but has German and Jewish ancestry. He took up playing guitar aged eight and started to study classical music at the local school, but stopped playing music completely for eleven years when his family moved to Israel in 1990. He took up playing guitar again in 2001 as a street musician when he moved to New York, forming a duo with violinist Michael Schulman. Now going solo he travels the world performing at concerts as well as street, yoga, art or any other festivals. He plays a ten-stringed classical guitar as well as the flute.
Estas Tonne - Fusion (Internal Flight album variation), live in Zurich, Switzerland in 2022….
He's a fantastic guitarist.
Yes…marvellous!
Seen before, I think I posted him sometime. He plays well but I wonder how he'd sound without all the echo and reverb effects.
Oh you are a picky bugger! There are other ones on YT to listen to..and there’s this where he tells his own story…
@Marionville I have play a classical guitar with similar (but lesser) effects. Mostly on stage rather than at home. I was one of the very first guitarists to use a tone wood amp which creates some of these effects.
@rogerbenham How do YOU rate him then…as you know much more about this type of guitar playing than I do?
@Marionville Well I don't like his playing nearly as much as many classically trained guitar players I see on Facebook Reels. There are lots of people who play so well. Incidently, I don't. And I am trying yo play my own thing so I can admire many.
On Facebook Reels I see often young females playing Pop Star favourites like Clapton famous solos just as well. I see that they are just as good as him ... but they are not stars and they are generally classically trained (the Left Hand Thumb position tells you lots).
