I thought I’d post something Scottish this morning as it’s been a while since I visited my homeland….so bringing on the nostalgia for me is - Runrig who are probably the finest Scottish folk rock band ever.
Here they perfom - Going Home, live 1997 at Stirling Castle…
To my deafness it sounds more like American pap than Scottish but perhaps Scots no longer sound Scottish.
Don’t be ridiculous…you’ve been living down under too long to know anything about the music enjoyed by people in Scotland during the past 5 decades. We’re no longer all “Och Aye the Noo” and tartan & haggis and anti -English in our songs, this is a very popular Scottish Celtic folk rock band which was formed on the Isle Of Skye in 1973. There is a whole world of Scottish, Welsh, Irish & English music which will sound alien to your ears which seem to be firmly stuck back in the folk clubs of 1960s Britain.
@Marionville I have been cognisant of Runrig for many decades Marge. Your attempt to ridicule me identifies your stupidity in accepting US corruption of your own native culture by loss of the native Scots voice in favour of what Billy Connolly aptly describes as beige people, [linkedin.com]
Billy Connolly in interview "working in America catapulted me into big-ness. But they had difficulty understanding my accent". . . Not Billy's problem but a lazy American one.
@Marionville a great quote for you to post & share with everyone: "the consequences of a world “designed by clowns and supervised by monkeys.” Dr. Mathew Maavak h the quote contained in a very short article warning of more USA stupidity - AI hallucinations: a budding sentience or a global embarrassment?
