Yesterday I saw a new sight for me - what turns out to be a buteo of Swainson’s hawks forming up to go south. There was the main group swirling about, trying to find a thermal and other hawks flying in to join. There were at a low level and flew close to my house. My cell phone camera does not it justice ! The hawks were identified by others - but matches my view of them as the flew by, with the fading sunlight illuminating them from below (for those that flew close to my house ). An amazing thing to witness.
