This pair of wild turkey hens had 16 poults between them. I was lucky enough to see them, and actually get some pics, at the Montour Preserve.

Imagine driving along and then having a couple of adult emus run onto the road with offspring and sprint away ahead of you? It was my reward four years ago after my daughter and family abruptly terminated a christmas picnic and I foolishly and angrily drove off into a forest out of telephone contact and probably 30 miles from the nearest unknown habitation. Fortunately nothing broke down or incapacitated me or the car and I did not comprehend my stupidity until I got home.
A grown full size emu can eat food put on the crown of a 6 foot tall person's head.

Ready in time for thanksgiving or like our wild turkeys "too tough"?

@Insectra After seeing what I buried had been dug up and eaten by a wild turkey I wouldnt touch one with a bargepole. - I had buried about 3 years of fat caught in the kitchen sink waste pipe's fat trap. It stank like a bad case of halitosis, some was green, some white, some pink and all slimy and very sticky. There must have been 3-5 kilos buried. It ate the lot. At least the washing up detergent was supposed to be biodegradeable and I never found a dead turkey around the yard!
