A friend called me about a young hawk with no parents in sight. It's a Broad-winged hawk (I'll add pics in the morning....it's sleeping now) and is not quite fledgling age (can barely perch or stand - which is why I would expect parents to be nearby to take care of it). I fed it some raw hamburger, which it took eagerly, until it was full. I'll call my avian vet in the morning and see what she recommends. As much as I would love to raise a hawk, I lack the experience and time, not to mention it's highly illegal without a falconer's license (which I sadly do not have).
I know this guy here who is one. He's the only one in the area qualified to work with eagles.
Wow. Are there any real falconers anymore?
in the united arab emirates there are.
@walklightly I recently saw of someone in America and one in Australia but do not remember where. It may have been in this group.
