Immature red-tailed hawk that flew into the side of a young man's truck. He took the time to bring the bird to the vet clinic where we x-rayed it and evaluated it. No broken bones, no obvious injuries, just a very thin young hawk. It readily ate three thawed mice at the vet clinic, so I've made arrangements to get it to a rehab center with proper flight cages for long-term care. Finally, a hopeful situation! I love working in wildlife rehabilitation but the heavy losses can weigh on me, at times. I know it's the nature of the job but it's still a drag. I guess that makes successful rehab cases that much more rewarding, though.

Looks as bright as a button. Those claws though! More vicious than my cat when she was young.

You are a very generous and kind person for taking such good care of injured wildlife. Thank you for being there when it is in need.

Thank you for doing the hard work of tending to our wild victims. It helps me deal with all the road kill to know someone is saving one, now and again ?

That X-ray! That is so cool. Now I know Owls are perpetually shrugging!

I need to find the pics. I had a hawk fly through one of my windows at full speed a few years ago. Glass flew at least 40 feet. ALl that to shred one of my succulents. He was a bit stunned but recovered in rehab
