A wireless public alerting system was tested across Canada earlier this week. The following notice showed up in my FB feed. Thought it might amuse you.

Love It!
That public alert was a bit of a foul up, I got my alert 2 days late.

Oops! Maybe your goose was loose 😉

@pixiedust I actually thought about getting a couple of French Geese, they are supposed to make excellent guard animals.

@Surfpirate Geese, in general, make great guard animals - fierce and loud!

That's terrific!

Is the goose in this flock? He's been talking to my geese about some sort of uprising. He also left behind a baby gosling.

OldGoat43 Level 9 May 11, 2018

looks familiar 😉

The all seeing goose. ... capable of turning humans into pillars of salt or fiery flaming columns. Like the Mountie the Canada goose always gets its prey.

and sometimes, the goose gets part of your lunch

@pixiedust lol we have similar problems from emus, ostriches, bower birds and 8 foot long goannas with claws built for lifting half a ton up a tree trunk. Dingoes can be a nuisance also ... they've even been claimed responsible for taking off babies. (Read about Lindy Chamberlain)

@FrayedBear LOL Gotta love the wildlife. I'm familiar with the Lindy Chamberlain story - truly tragic for all involved. And Jurgen Otto recently shared his yard and pool with a monitor lizard - I don't know if it's still there. I would not have expected emus to be bold around humans.

@pixiedust emus - deadly. At the Australian Reptile Park at Wyoming, Gosford they would peck you on top of your head if you did not feed them the special pop corn sold at the kiosk - talk about Pavlovian response and a closed shop?
