Hi everyone! I'm not sure if I qualify as a cancer survivor yet because I just learned I had it this morning. I'm not even sure if it's uterine or endometrial. The doctor said that just a hysterectomy should take care of it if I act quickly, but I have to move back to CA for my insurance to cover things... Feeling very overwhelmed. Actually I was feeling very overwhelmed before this morning, so now I'm feeling whatever it is that is worse than that...
Carin you belong here. Anyone who knows anyone with cancer is welcome here. Feel free to ask questions.
Thank you. People have been very kind.
You have every right to feel overwhelmed and scared. This is a whole new experience. And it's hard to make decisions when you don't have all the information. My only advice is, do your research and ALWAYS take someone with you on appointments. You need a second pair of ears. If your doctor feels a hysterectomy will eliminate the problem, get a second opinion just to confirm. It could just be something pre-cancerous, or a small polyp that's contained, but in women past childbearing age, it's safer to do a hysterectomy and not take chances. That's what they did in my case.
I wish you luck and hope that you can take care of this and move on with your life.
Thank you. I didn't have anyone to bring to the appointment but maybe this next one.
Hugs. You're in good company here. I had that over twenty years ago. It seems my body is out to get me because I produce too much estrogen. Now I have breast cancer. I'm having surgery June 7. It's nice to have this little support group where nobody is praying. Keep us up to date.
I'm so sorry to hear you got cancer again! Wishing you all the best!
@Carin I'm currently at the doctors waiting to get these tubes out of me. I hope they got it all.
@confidentrealm Me too. And I hope your pain is manageable!
@Carin they didn't take the tubes out. I'm so sad. Maybe next week. But good news, they think they got all the cancer. Now on to chemotherapy. Bad news. I don't want to do it.
@confidentrealm Oh dear, I am so sorry about the tubes--they sound uncomfortable. I hope the chemo won't be too bad. I know it can really vary... We are here for you!
@Carin thanks. I was really bummed. Tired of these things but it's just another step.
@confidentrealm How long since you were diagnosed with the breast cancer?
@Carin three years in July
Hugs....
Now breathe...
So, do you have a place/is moving back to CA an option? There are quite a few CA members, quite possibly someone can lend a hand if needed.
Let us know how things are going and I am here if you just need an ear.
Thanks so much! If I can get appointments and procedures scheduled together I was going to look for a short term rental in CA, but so far they have just been stringing me along one appointment or phone call at a time...
Breaking my wrist means I can't work anyway so it sort of doesn't matter where I live--just what is most economical-at least until my kids' school starts. My boyfriend needs to live in Colorado though, and we just leased an apartment here. It's also more affordable than the Sacramento area.
