There is a Democrat atheist state legislator in Arizona named Athena Salman who has been a featured speaker in a number of atheist events, such as California Freethought Day and Secular Student Alliance Conference. I sense that her being featured is a form of endorsement, which conflicts with the non-profit requirement of not endorsing candidates. There have been atheist Republican state legislators in the past, most recently in New Hampshire, but these legislators were given practically no attention by mainstream atheist orgs.I do give credit though to California Freethought Day for allowing Republican Atheists to have a table at their event. I just get the vibe that mainstream atheist orgs will try to keep a lid on atheist Republicans as much as possible. Salman feeds right into the SJW atheist agenda.
Unfortunately most atheist seem to be liberal democrats as the evidence of the ranting and raving on this website make clear.
There are more atheist conservatives and atheist Republicans, but they are given little to not spotlight by atheist organizations. This is partly why I draw attention to political actions of atheist orgs.
@repubatheists Wow.. now that l didn't know. What source tells us this?
@Captain_Feelgood I do not know of any atheist Republicans in office now, but recently there were two atheist Republican state legislators, Robert Fisher and Brandon Phinney, in New Hampshire that received no attention from atheist orgs like American Atheists, Secular Coalition for America, etc. Fisher is no longer in office, Phinney changed to Libertarian. But there will be more and it is important that they are not swept under the rug !
@Captain_Feelgood Generally speaking, though, mainstream atheist orgs give no spotlight to atheist Republicans in general. I have attempted to correspond with them multiple times as president of Republican Atheists and they have either cut ties with me or just do not respond.
@repubatheists Ahh,, l was thinking all Atheists in general, not just those in office or running for one.. okay, l gotcha.
