Hiked into some remote woods, yesterday at dusk , to release opossums into the wild. I'm an experienced rehabilitator, and happen to have an especial fondness for these gentle (in spite of their showing their teeth to try and scare you), beneficial and most interesting beings !

That's usually how I get the babies - people find them on or near their dead Mommas. Always good to look closely if you see one hit - but not squashed - there may be young ones near her, or in her pouch !
@evergreen I've found several that way as well. Our local zoo raises them, which is helpful.
I love opossums! There was a baby one under my front porch awhile back, but it ran off before l could get my phone out to take it's picture!

"freaky looking" is a subjective term. I can only imagine what some animals think of humans !
