More local history. An interesting video from LIHS (Lopez Island Historical Society).

This might be of interest to all the technically minded among us. Making a high voltage deep underwater cable is a big deal. At the time it was the world’s longest power cable. FYI recently a new cable has been laid. Our museum has a small cross section of the original cable along side the new one.

I saw the video’s 23-minute length and doubted I was compulsive enough to watch it all. A minute or so into the story I wasn’t able to get out. Well, 35 years ago I was compulsive enough to read Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised.

I have heard the new version is Roberta Rules of Order. I had to learn some of the rules when I joined my first board.

We just had a new cable installed 2 years go. The price was $15 million. From this film I can see why the expense. Right now our island is in the process of installing a fiber optic cable.

Posted by TO_BYI'm remembering Sam for Memorial Day. He died over this last year. A memorable street-performance artist up here. He originally hailed from Tonga. Big spirited. Loved America.
